The Departed
The Departed:
From China's film director, Internal Affairs is a cat and mouse game where both cops and criminals are trying to find their respective moles. Martin Scoresce directs a American version set in Boston. With big stars headlining this film like Mark Walhberg, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jack Nicholson and big stars supporting roles in this film (Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin), this film has got to be good. Well, it is. The film excels in story and how the actors portray the pressure on both moles (or in this case, rats). The actors almost oversell the acting when the story and intrigue is very compelling.
For folks who can not take gore, this movie is very bloody. These guys who can shoot, they can really shoot. Almost 80% of the characters took a shot in the head. Blood splatters everywhere in this film. You have been forewarn on the violent and gory nature between the Boston police and the mafia that controls the state.
Unfortunately, a surprise problem for Martin or his editors ruin this film. There are spots in the movie where scenes look out of place. There is one promient scene shown but there is no resolution at the end of the movie. It seem significant enough but again, scenes look out of place. In any case, I would wait for a director's cut to see if Martin corrects any of the inconsistencies in the film. In the meantime, here is my rating
6 dollars when I paid 11 dollars.
